THREE-WAY KISS

The rain is beating
Snow retreating
From the Staten Island streets
Frozen on the tarmacadam
Mirrors set in ebony

Conversation's
Dissipating
Melts away like angels' breath
Seems absurd to go on further
The road gets misty
Dead ahead

I thought that we'd begun
A second season's run
But seems my ratings hung
Along the way
And every time we meet
It's just the same old script
And I can't get the lines to fit
A better screenplay

But when I see you on a night like this
I probably spoke too soon
'Cos I want to hold you
In a three-way kiss
Between you, and me, and the moon

Was what you're chasing
So intoxicating?
Or were you blinded by the seaboard lights?
When chance came calling
You slipped your mooring
And drifted to another room that night

You say it's hard to find
The reason or the rhyme
And explanations don't come easily
I tried to read the signs
I tried to speak my mind
But I don't have the right
Vocabulary

But when I see you on a night like this
I probably spoke too soon
'Cos I want to hold you
In a three-way kiss
Between you, and me, and the moon

I'd been trying to resist
Don't mean to come over jejeune
But I want to hold you
In a three-way kiss
Between you, and me, and the moon
